Well, I think it's official...I'm allergic to peanuts!
My daughter Kaitlyn is severely allergic to peanuts. She has had this issue since she was 4 months old. I never knew where is came from since neither her biological father nor I ever had allergies to peanuts.
This allergy being stated...I have a thing for chocolate covered peanut butter. Peanut butter M&Ms, peanut butter cups, etc. I've relegated my peanut butter and chocolate (PB&C) eating to only when I'm at work so as to protect Kaitlyn from exposure the the nut of doom. I've always eaten them earlier in the day and washed my mouth out excessively as well as scrubbed my hands down to point where I appear to have OCD.
But lately, I've been discovering something horrible; I too may be allergic to peanuts! I've eaten a few PB&C products in the last few days and I've started to itch on my neck and face. Now this is nothing compared to Kaitlyn's reaction - airways closing, tongue swelling, etc. but it is still no good.
So as of today, I am swearing off peanut butter, peanuts, and PB&C products for the sake of my daughter and my face. Peanut butter, you will no longer tempt me with your wild ways and your twisted mix with chocolate. I am better than that :)

-sigh- I "feel your pain." It's not that I'm allergic to foods. It's that, due to health issues, I can no longer eat some of them. Naturally, chocolate being among them. So see, I can "feel your pain."
ReplyDeleteBut you know the old bit of wisdom... about how it's better that you found out, without a full blown reaction {like Kaitlyn}. But that doesn't make up for the loss of those goodies in your life, does it? Nope! It doesn't. But like you said... you're better than that.
And yes, your letter arrived. And yes, you and I both, were wondering about those 'Forever' stamps. 'The Missives Maven' saw that I'd put a 2 cent stamp on an envelope, _with_ a Forever stamp, and assured me that they _are_ forever. :-) Thank you, Missives Maven. :-)
Gentle hugs,
