It took me a long time to find my blogger template
It also took me forever to tweak it into just what I wanted in a blog
Hours were spent in placing the description, photos, affiliation buttons, and everything else
And now I'm feeling the sting of blogger template discontentment.
I recently tried out Squarespace, because it was the latest hot blog system. Well, let me tell you, that site is complicated! You have to space the boxes manually, change columns with great difficulty, just adding my picture was medieval torture!
I'm so happy to be back to my blogger roots, but I'm still discontent. I look at all the beautiful blogs online, and I like them, but I also like my simple design. I would like to have three columns though so that all of my extras (i.e. non-entry content) can be spread around and not in one long stream down the side.
I want to change, however, I get very frustrated when changing blogger templates because all of my widgets get deleted! This frustrates me so much that I don't think it is worth the hassle to change my template. But then again, I am a creature of change.
I am always changing! I can never stick to one thing for too long. I like the simplicity of my current template, but then again I want something more bold that makes a statement.
Other bloggers seem perfectly content with their templates. Why can I not be so lucky?
I suppose I will stick with this template for now, if not because I like it then because I want to preserve my widgets.
If you like my blog just the way it is, let me know. If you have found some awesome yet simple three column blog templates, give me a holler :)
Until next time,

Afraid I need to ask, why do you need all your widgets? Are they absolutely necessary? Does everyone who comes by here, stop and look at all of them, every time?
ReplyDeleteGuess you can tell that I'm a non-widget on my Sidebar person. But, that's just me!
But also, no widgets and a very short/simple Sidebar, allows me to change templates if I wish. And to change colors and background and etc., when I wish. And believe me, I "wish thus" often! Actually, I've been content with my blogs for some time now, and it's pretty amazing!
But... the simplicity of my blog contents, makes it easy to change around, when the wish to, over takes me.
--Do I like your blog as it is? Not for me to say. We each fix our blogs, as it pleases us.
--Do I wish you had a blog set-up, which makes it easy for you to change around? Yes! 'Cause I know it's fun to change things.
--Could you cut way down on widgets, and be able to change, and still have a competent blog? That's for you to answer.
--But hey, Blogger has 3 column blog templates to choose from. You don't have to go out and import those free fancy ones, which slow down on blog loading time. {Those, do make me grind my teeth. -giggles-}
--Change to a 3 column Blogger template, and play with the colors and etc.
--I happen to like ShabbyBlogs because their backgrounds do NOT slow down on my blog loading time. Well, I don't have lots of Sidebar stuff of course. And lots of Sidebar stuff, does add to blog loading time.
--In the end, it's you who have to be content, with how your blog looks. Well, for a little while, anyway. 'Tis natural to want to change, now and then, I think. :-))))
Eeeeek! I rambled on toooo long, per usual!

I like it - I too would like a three column template, but I wonder if it doesn't clutter things up too much
ReplyDeleteIm having the same problem as you except im new to blogging so im just trying to figure everything out. I really like your blog. Its nice to keep things simple sometimes. Some of the blogs I have gone to are just a mess of a bunch of different things.
